☘️ Rejection or just bad luck?

Welcome to this week's guide to military transition success!

Let's talk about rejection & creating your own luck ☘️

Part of the job search means facing rejection.

Never fun, but let’s be real - it happens to everyone.

Some people seem to transition seamlessly, landing the right opportunity fast and loving it. Others hit roadblock after roadblock.

Why are some people so lucky?!

Here’s the truth: luck happens when preparation meets opportunity.

A “no” today just means you’re one step closer to the right “yes.”

Feeling unlucky lately? Here’s a few ways to handle the disappointment and keep moving forward.

Reframe the Rejection
Transitioning is a learning experience, and every rejection is a chance to grow.

Reality check: Most people don’t land the first role they interview for, and SkillBridge is no different. It’s not personal - it’s about fit, timing, and persistence.

Instead of seeing rejection as failure, use it as feedback to refine your approach:

Ask for insights – Some employers will tell you what you can improve.
Broaden your search – There are thousands of SkillBridge opportunities. Expanding your options can open new doors.

Stay Top of Mind
If you’ve been following our newsletter, you already know - networking is everything. The more connections you make, the “luckier” you’ll get.

Follow up with interviewers – A “no” now doesn’t mean “no” forever. Stay on their radar.
Ask for connections - follow-up every “no” with “are there others in your network seeking new hires matching my skillsets?”
Stay active on LinkedIn – Engaging with posts and growing your network makes you more visible to recruiters.

Plus, keep utilizing the veteran network. Connect and message them for insight, advice, and maybe even some referrals!

The Luckiest People Keep Showing Up ☘️
You already know resilience.

It’s what got you this far. The job search is just another place to use it.

Every successful job seeker has faced rejection.

The key? They didn’t stop.

Keep learning, keep applying, and keep putting yourself out there.

Your opportunity is out there - you just have to keep showing up.

We’re big fans of working smarter, not harder. That’s the beauty of AI. Last week, we talked about one of the biggest challenges in transition: translation. This tool can help you easily put your experience into...

You’ve led teams. Managed complex operations. Made decisions under pressure. But if you’ve ever had a civilian recruiter glance blankly at your resume… you’re not alone. One of the biggest challenges in military transition is translation. Not of a different language, but of experience. But let’s be honest… it might as well be a different language sometimes. Someone who’s never served will almost never understand how “Specialized in helicopter movement and assault operations, ground assault...
